Invitations to
Serious Seekers
SeriousSeekers
is a meeting-place for men and women troubled by but still unresigned to
the decadence they perceive beneath the veneer of the modern world. Such
people are unwilling to give up the search for durable meaning, for
authenticity, for Truth.
Some may see
the demise of earlier traditional forms as an inevitable evil, others as
a necessary precondition for the awakening of the individual spirit. But
in either case the guide on this journey of search and discovery is the
Sophia Perennis, the eternal wisdom at the heart of all the world’s
great spiritual traditions.
The paradox
is that the unifying thread of these traditions should become evident only
when their separate tapestries have completely unravelled. Only then is
the time for an elaboration of the inner core, or esoterism, of these
traditions, the Wisdom Tradition, and our primary purpose is to offer
material to meet just this need.
But the
Wisdom Tradition we refer to is not the Path itself, defined in its
simplest terms as the earnest and sincere practice of a religion or
celestial doctrine. Rather, it illumines the spiritual Paths, deepening
practice in the light of the transcendent unity of religions while at the
same time honoring the unique claims of each.
The Wisdom
Tradition can tell us what has befallen humanity and point to our
positive, liberating, and life-affirming spiritual options as individuals.
And it can find common cause even with the insights of many compassionate
secular thinkers who address the crucial social, psychological,
technological, and environmental issue of the day, giving the greater
context in which common rolots become visible, in which new vistas are
opened.
The primary
exponents of this Wisdom Tradition write with an intellectul strength and
maturity far removed from desperate, simplistic fundamentalisms, and from
New Age jargon, offering instead a wide perspective and an instrument of
comprehension of inestimable value to those in search of a context for
their misgivings, their critiques, their advocacy of humanity and its
sacred claims.
The Wisdom
Tradition loves us, chooses us. It wants us, both in itself as
transcendent truth and in the forms of those celestial revelations, the
world’s religions, which are its grace. It wills our Illumination,
Salvation, and Peace, and that of the world, and it teaches us who and
where we are. It is our music, our soul, our one hope time out of mind,
our spiritual treasure. In the deepest sense, it is our very Self.
